Personal Capes
Before anyone slams me for repeating an idea, I did notice this topic http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=116963, but that deals with more of the cape design than the idea I have, and I didn't see this idea anywhere else, so here it goes.
I have been in a guild for a while now that I like, but the cape is the most fugly thing I have seen (well maybe not, but it is close), I don't ask the leader to change it, because it is his descision. But I would like to propse the idea of personal capes, where you design your own cape that you like and you can decide whether to display your guild cape or your own.
Possible variables to this idea:
-The cape only appears during 1v1 matches
-Only make this option available to lone wolves (people not in guilds)
Feel free to add onto this idea, I know this is pretty short, but oh well.

The whole only available to people not in guilds is pretty pointless really, as anyone not in a guild can just create one in order to have there own cape. whenever I find myself between guilds I usually create my own just for my own cape and what not.
I do kind of like the idea but I think the whole point of capes is to show your allegiance to a guild...those not in a guild shouldn't really have one and those in a guild should well display there guild capes at all times. This is Guild Wars after all.

I suppose that puts a big dent in it right there, lmfao. Unless I get some support for this, this idea can be scrapped.

The whole entire point Guild Wars created capes is to distinquish one guild from another. I personally love this idea but I doubt ANet would do this because capes are something to wear because your proud of your guild.
- Love the idea but doubt ANet will do it

yeah, I wasn't really thinking about those aspects when I wrote it, and I guess it would be hard to still have a guild emblem somewhere else without comepletely revamping the system, another idea is guild shields and stuff, but I believe that is converstaion for another day, so I will call this closed and a forum admin may archive/delete this w/e

More cape options would be good, but if you want your own cape pay 100g for your own guild.

+2k to design it.
All in all, I'm in support of a more general idea of having personal and/or unique capes. More customization is always a fun plus.

If you are in a guild and display your own creation then you are disloyal to your guild. If you are a lone wolf and want a cape, just create a guild and cape for yourself.
I don't think I like this idea. I just don't see a need for it.
Maybe if it was made manditory to put you guild's call letters on the cape it could be ok, but then I would imagine it just looking dumb.

well this might fly if anet puts a high enough price for the cape. Say 10K for the option. It will remove a LOT of gold from the game. Another gold sink will be nice.

I'd be keen as I'm in the same camp as the OP.
Great guild, crappy cape, "hidden at all times except PvP"
The main thing I've noticed is that many guild leaders usually design a cape which suits their main as opposed to trying to get a more generic design which looks good on the majority.
Being the type of player who usually has a character concept in mind aesthetics are an important part of my game.
I'd be keen on this or maybe a system where a guild member is able to make subtle variations to the cape to suit their character, mainly color, while leaving the main symbol, cape shape, etc intact.
The guild tag is more than enough to show your guild allegiance imo.

Edna: It will be bold! Dramatic!
Bob: Yeah!
Edna: Heroic!
Bob: Yeah. Something classic, like, like Dynaguy. Oh, he had a great look! Oh, the cape and the boots...
Edna: [throws a wadded ball of paper at Bob's head] No capes!
Bob: Isn't that my decision?
Edna: Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids.
Bob: Listen, E...
Edna: November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin!
Bob: Thunderhead was not the brightest bulb...
Edna: Stratogale! April 23rd, '57! Cape caught in a jet turbine!
Bob: E, you can't generalize about these things...
Edna: Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex!
Edna: [shouts]No capes!
like many mention above, you already can make your own cape so, /unsigned
